Festival of the Cueva de Nerja

The Festival of the Cueva de Nerja is one of the oldest music and dance festivals in Spain, with open-air concerts at the Auditorio Manuel del Campo next to the Cueva.

The Festival of the Cueva de Nerja is one of the oldest music and dance festivals in Spain, with more than six decades of history. Created to commemorate the opening of the Cueva de Nerja to the public, it offers a programme of first-class concerts and performances every summer in an incomparable setting.

Important: The 2026 edition has been cancelled. The Fundación Pública de Servicios Cueva de Nerja has announced that the decision is due to the legal situation affecting the tender for organising and running the festival from 2026 to 2030. The Foundation had started the process in 2025 to guarantee the event for the next five years, with between 10 and 12 top-level concerts in each edition.

The stage

The concerts are usually held at the Auditorio Manuel del Campo, in the gardens of the Cuevas de Nerja monument, with capacity for more than 3,000 spectators. Performances beneath the starry sky, with the cave in the background, create a unique atmosphere that has made the festival a highlight of the Andalusian summer.

Programme

The festival covers many genres: classical music, opera, ballet, flamenco, jazz and dance performances. Over its history it has featured top national and international artists. Although there will be no 2026 edition, the cancellation is due to an administrative and legal issue with the organising contract, so the festival is expected to return in future editions once this has been resolved.

Tickets

In normal years, the Festival of the Cueva de Nerja requires a ticket. Prices and advance sales are announced together with the official programme by the Fundación Cueva de Nerja. As the 2026 edition has been cancelled, no tickets will go on sale this year.
