Weather in Río Chíllar
200 m · The Río Chíllar trail, its gorge and natural pools.
Note: the town council closed access to the Río Chíllar in August 2023 because of the wildfire risk, and it is still closed. The trail is walked along the riverbed. Inside the gorge it is 3-5 °C cooler than in town, but rain or storms in the mountains can make the river rise quickly: if there is a warning or rain is likely, do not go in.

Frequently asked questions
Is Río Chíllar dangerous when it rains?
Yes. With heavy rain or storms in the mountains the flow rises fast and the narrow section (the cahorros) is tight. If AEMET has a warning or rain is likely, leave the trail for another day.
Is the Río Chíllar open?
No. Access has been closed since August 2023 because of the wildfire risk (a decision of the town council), and in summer the local police check the entrance. See the trail page for the latest status.
