Bar Dolores El Chispa is one of the most famous fish and tapas bars in Nerja. It is at Calle San Pedro 12, about 600 metres from the Balcón de Europa, with a covered terrace that is always busy. It has more than 5,000 Google reviews with a 4.5 rating (4.1 on Tripadvisor) and plenty of local customers.

What to order. Classic fish and seafood: sardine espetos, fried fish, prawns pil pil, Galician-style octopus, razor clams, grilled squid and sardines. A free tapa comes with your drink, which is unusual in the area. Half portions are available: four of them are plenty for two people. Expect to pay €10-20 per person.

Opening hours. It opens Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00-15:45 and 19:00-22:45; closed on Mondays. It doesn't take bookings, so in summer there is a queue: the best bet is to arrive right at opening time.
