El Chucho Beach
Blue Flag fine-gravel beach between the Mirador de la Torrecilla and El Playazo: very clear water for snorkelling, a lifeguard and free parking next door.
El Chucho Beach (Playa El Chucho) is in the west of Nerja, between the Mirador de la Torrecilla, which separates it from La Torrecilla, and El Playazo, next to the mouth of the Chíllar river. It is about 200 metres of fine gravel and small pebbles with very clear water, some 15 minutes' walk from the Balcón de Europa, and it is usually quieter than the beaches in the centre.
Facilities
It has a Blue Flag in 2026, shared with El Playazo, and in season a lifeguard, showers, sunlounger hire (about €6 a day according to visitors) and a beach bar. There are toilets nearby and restaurants along Avenida del Mediterráneo. Dogs are not allowed.
What it is like
It is not a sandy beach: the shore is gravel and small stones, so water shoes help, and so does a chair or sunlounger if you are staying all day. In return, the water is usually very clean and clear, with fish around the rocks by the viewpoint: it is one of the best beaches in Nerja for snorkelling. Some days there are a few waves. As there is plenty of space, it is a good alternative when La Torrecilla is full.
To the east, past the viewpoint, is La Torrecilla, with finer sand but far more people; to the west begins El Playazo, the longest beach in Nerja. Compare them in our guide to Nerja's beaches.
