Chiringuito Playa Maro is the beach bar on Maro beach, the cove of dark sand and clear water below the village of Maro, about 4 km from the centre of Nerja. It is the only place to eat or drink on the beach itself, and many of the kayak routes to the Maro Waterfall start here, so in summer it is extremely busy.

What there is. Simple beach food: sandwiches, sardines, salads and sharing plates, plus breakfast, cold beer and cocktails. Expect to pay €10-20 per person. It opens every day from 11:30 to 20:00, has terrace tables and does takeaway.

What reviews say. Opinions are very divided and the Google rating is low (2.3). The main complaints are the waits, both for a table and for takeaway, the prices and cleanliness. On the plus side: the setting, some friendly staff, and the sardines and sandwiches do the job. The bar is small for the crowds the beach gets, and everything it sells has to come down the access path.
