  • Most praised: Terrace with impressive coastal views · Fresh fried fish and Andalusian dishes · Options for coeliacs
  • Terrace · Kids welcome

Restaurante Cueva de Nerja is the restaurant inside the grounds of the Nerja Caves, two minutes from the cave entrance and about 4 km from the town centre. It is the most convenient place for breakfast before your visit or lunch afterwards without moving the car. It has a 3.4 rating on Google from almost 1,700 reviews.

The terrace. This is the best-rated feature: it has open views of the coast and the gardens, and the indoor dining room also looks out to sea. There are private rooms and it caters a lot for groups and organised excursions.

What there is. Breakfast, coffee and a simple Andalusian menu, in which the fried fish gets the most praise. There are coeliac options and a children's menu, and you pay €10-20 per person. It opens every day from 10:00 to 19:00, the same hours as cave visits.

Good to know. Criticism is consistent: waits when several groups arrive at once, uneven service from some waiters and slightly pricey dishes served without sides. If you are visiting independently, avoid the time when the midday tours finish. For other options, the village of Maro is 3 km away and Nerja 4 km.
