History

1860

Built in September 1860 by Vicente Martínez Manescau, a prominent industrialist and mayor of Nerja, the building has deep historical roots tied to the commercial and social boom of the region. Vicente, a member of the influential Manescau family of French origin, founded the San José sugar factory in 1864, one of the most important of its time, and contributed significantly to the town's economic development.

In 1981 the building began a new chapter in its rich history when our parents leased the ground floor and opened the restaurant “Casa Luque”. Since then it has become a landmark in Nerja, offering a unique dining experience in a setting that combines tradition, elegance and the charm of a bygone era.
