Restaurante El Puente is one of the best-known set-menu restaurants in Nerja. It is at Calle Carretera 4, west of the centre and about a 10-minute walk from the Balcón de Europa. It has loyal regulars who have been coming back for years and a 4.4 rating on Google from more than 3,100 reviews (4.3 on Tripadvisor).

The menú del día. This is what made it famous: for around €14-15 you get a starter, main course, dessert and a drink, with plenty of dishes to choose from and portions that are hard to finish. The cooking is home-style Andalusian, and the fish of the day and the prawns are the most praised dishes. Tapas are served in the bar area, not in the dining room: if you have come for tapas, say so when you arrive.

Opening hours and booking. It opens from 12:00 to 22:30 every day except Friday, when it is closed. It fills up quickly at lunchtime, so book or arrive early. There is a shaded terrace and a children's menu, and dogs are welcome. There is a large car park opposite, which is a real plus in Nerja.

What not to expect. The place is simple and a little dated, and the terrace faces the street. Come here to eat well and cheaply, not for the views. Don't confuse it with the bar at the Puente del Águila, which is in Maro, next to the aqueduct.
